Poem For Janae

The world she wants is up above
But she is repeatedly torn down by the one she loves
Her melancholy stare
A story on its own
But she has no one to tell it to
Utterly alone

She desires a refuge, and she wants it quick
She’s getting too tired of this world, and she’s becoming sick
Of the one who hurt her
It’s becoming awful steady
She feels the need to leave but tells herself she isn’t ready

She wanted to live, but couldn’t escape from herself
Now her life is like an old book, forgotten on a shelf
One day she’ll be happy
The day she hears no sound
Because now it’s too late
And she’s six feet underground
